The Robinhood Roundabout is a local favourite in Newbury steeped in history going back to the 1980's when it was at its most prolific in terms of craziness!
Back in the day The Toby Carvery located on the corner of London Road was a pub called The Robinhood. Before the days of the Newbury Bypass it was just a roundabout with very complex lanes with the ramp that heads North on Todays A339. Up until 1998 the whole of the A34 used to go through the town. Imagine all that traffic going through it now - the A34 Newbury Bypass took more than 25 years to be agreed on. There is a great picture and Article here on the Newbury Today Website showing what it looked like in the 1980s.
